Barry M Lady

A few months ago Barry M brought out a new textured collection and Lady was one of them.

It's a glorious textured polish white with hints of gold glitter in it that I just about captured in these photos.

It is perfect for nail art where you want to mimic the look of fresh snow- or just as an eye catching manicure in its own right.

The only problem I have with this polish is that even at the three coats shown here it is still a little sheer and textured nail polishes are notoriously slow drying so the more coats you have to apply the longer you have to wait to do anything. Other than that I love it.

33DC Textured Gradient

I showed you Barry M Countess alone yesterday and for today I sponged another textured polish, OPI Alcatraz Rocks, over the tips of my nails then added studs from the Born Pretty Store which came in a wheel with a few different types of stud.

To apply the studs without changing the texture of the polish I used dotting tools to add a dot of clear polish where I wanted the stud then used the dotting tool while slightly tacky to pick up and place the studs. The studs are thin and lie close to the surface of my nails which I really like.

I've gone for some more arty shots that I normally do, I love the one below and the one above shows you just how thin these studs are.

31DC: Red Nails

Last night quite late I decided to join in on the 31 day challenge that is happening this month. That gave me one night turn around to get this mani out (I normally like to give myself a little more time so that I can choose not to use a design if I don't think it's up to scratch.) The first challenge is red so here is my red nail art:

I decided to play around a bit with colour, texture and patterns. 

I used She walks in beauty for the glitter accent nail with the pattern drawn with my Barry M black nail art pen. The Zoya is just the right colour to match Rose Bower although it takes forever to dry because you can't use top coat. I much prefer the texture of this to the OPI liquid sands because it is much less pronounced and annoys me less, it's a shame that Zoyas are so expensive in the UK.

Overall I quite like this. Check back tomorrow to see my orange mani.

Textured Stripes

This manicure did not end up where I intended it to go when it started but I love it. I recently got hold of OPI Alcatraz Rocks pre UK release and decided to do freehand diagonal stripes of my three blue liquid sand polishes.

I started with a full coat of Tiffany Case before painting on the other two polishes. As I only have a mini bottle of Get Your Number the stripe of that one was harder to paint on.

This manicure was so glittery! I topcoated as well to get even more shine while covering the texture.

Dragon Glass Nails Blood and Fire Swatches

A couple of weeks ago I posted about a new UK indie polish maker called Dragon Glass Nails and my first one came last week. Blood and Fire is inspired by Game of Thrones (which I haven't yet watched but intend to) and is an aubergine textured polish with gold glitter and a holographic flash. It dries to a textured semi matte finish and dries pretty slowly- resist the temptation to touch it too quickly.

The texture of this is similar to OPI liquid sands but slightly smoother. It's a fairly cold toned purple which is quite unusual and I really like.  It is best at two coats which is what I'm showing you.

But if texture is not your thing you can get a totally different look by top coating. Despite being very glittery and textured this polish is not top coat hungry, two coats is enough to totally even out the polish.

Look how gorgeous that is, you can still see that it is textured but you can't feel it and this way the gold glitter shines out.

And for those interested here is a brush next to a Barry M brush for comparison. Very easy to use, no bent bristles.
