Day 6: Neon OMD Challenge

As I've mentioned before I'm currently running off an essentials only polish collection therefore the only true neon polish I have is an Orly yellow "Hook Up" so I decided to pair it with NYC "Greenwich Village" and Essie "Sunday Funday" to make a sunrise gradient. I then stamped palm trees on top in black from a Konad Plate.
The palm trees only had outlines of the leaves but to achieve the look I wanted I filled them in with my Barry M black nail art pen. This would not photograph well, it looks so much better in real life
I love this :) the black detailing removes a little of the in your face brightness making it much more wearable and much more interesting. Check out everyone else's neon manicures here.

Tara's Talons Envy in a bottle swatch

This is not part of the OMD Challenge but I was trying out some of my new Tara's Talons polishes. I put on this epic acid green glitter "Envy in a Bottle" and it is incredible! Perfect application in two coats with a third for good luck.
Once I was wearing this all I could think of was the scene in the film "Burlesque" where Christina Aguilera's character sings a song called Bound to You wearing this incredible acid green dress shown below (I would probably kill to own this dress)
After that I just wanted to pair the polish with a nude. So I pulled out another of Tara's polishes the stunning pearlescent nude "To polish is human". This is two coats and I love that it looks like a beautiful french manicure with the awesome blue and gold hexes.
These photos are all without top coat and the polishes dried very quickly to a perfect finish without.
And one more of the full manicure for the win. I am so glad I have this polish in my collection, it is one of my top five favourite polishes of all time. You can't buy Envy in a Bottle (or To polish is human) but you could ask Tara to make you a very similar custom here.

Day 5: Skittles OMD Challenge

Skittles- the hardest type of nail art to pull together in the world. I decided to up my chances by using the 5 polishes from the Barry M Summer Gelly collection which go together really well. I applied one to each nail and then added some Lac Attack Weasleys' Wizarding Wheezes.
WWW is amazing! It goes with every one of these colours.
I'm looking forward to tomorrow's neon post but for now check out everyone else's skittles here.

Day 4: Black and White OMD Challenge

When I was thinking about black and white the idea came to me to do a sort of gradient with reverse gradient stamping. It didn't come out exactly how it was in my head mainly because I failed to get the black dark enough in the gradient and my white polish therefore doesn't show up very well.

Day 3: Purple OMD Challenge

It took three tries to get a post I was happy with publishing for purple but this one was definitely worth the effort. I wanted to feature another of my Tara's Talons polishes, the stunning glitter that is Clowning Around. There is every colour of glitter you could imagine in this and the best news is that Tara made ten bottles of this- I got number 8 and there is just one still available on etsy here.
I put down two coats of Clowning Around and then used striping tape to section off my nails into three triangles.

Day 2: Blue OMD Challenge

Day two and the challenge is blue, I own so many blue polishes, it is my favourite colour in all of its shades but today I want to show you one of my untrieds- Essie Rock the Boat a pale blue with shimmer. As this is from a nautical themed Essie collection I thought I would show you it with a starfish over the top. The starfish was inspired by Chalkboard Nails and the first one on my ring finger went really well but the second one on my index is a little dodgy.

Day 1:Pink OMD Challenge

I'm very excited to be participating in the new OMD challenge starting today! Today's challenge is pink, I rarely wear pink on my nails but I recently got some polishes from Tara's Talons a new British Indie Polish maker. She formulates a lot of unique nail polishes, which is really exciting because I have the only bottle :). This one is called Wet Bikini. It's a pink crelly with gold, pink, orange and blue hexagonal glitter and blue micro glitter in there.
More details and some nail art below the jump
