33DC Inspired by a Tutorial

This wasn't really a tutorial but it is someone else's design. Dressed up Nails did these awesome dotty hearts and when I saw them I knew they were what I wanted to copy for this challenge. I did mine in neon pink and pastel lime green- a fabulous combination which is under appreciated.

The colours used here are Jessica Lime Cooler and Lilypad Lacquer In Pink We Trust- an exclusive made for the UK store Sally Magpies. I did the dots with a dotting tool and freehanded the stripes with a medium length striping brush.

I really like this manicure. I like how in your face it is but also isn't because the pastel green tones it down, just awesome :).

Tomorrow I will have a post summing up my top ten polishes for the winter season now that the clocks have gone back and some of them are a little wild cardy so come and see if you agree with me :).

33DC Flowers: Moyou Tulip Stamping

As soon as I saw this Moyou stamping plate image I knew what I wanted to do with it and that was to make stamper decals:

These are quite simple to make- pick up your image on your stamper as per usual and while it's on the stamper use nail polish to colour in the parts of the design you want to (here I coloured in the tulips and the grass below them)  then add a generous coat of clear nail polish to the image and wait for it to dry (I usually leave mine about 15-20 minutes) then use tweezers to peel the whole thing off the stamper, place it on your (dry!) base coloured nails, use nail scissors to cut away any excess around your nails and then put another coat of the same clear top coat over the top, wrapping the tips.

I used a few different polshes here, the background is Jessica Lime Cooler, the flowers are H&M Orange and Yellow, OPI Flashbulb Fuchsia and A England Rose Bower, and the leaves are NYC High Line Green.
I love the effect you can get with stamped decals, they can produce some exceptional nail art images. Remember to check out all the other 33 day challenge flower designs, there will be some amazing nail art!

33 DC Mexican Sugar Skulls

The only thing I ever really see on people's nails about Mexico are the Cinco de Mayo sugar skulls. So I used this tutorial by Pretty Squared to draw skulls onto my nails.

The polishes I used in this were Barry M Guava and Passion Fruit, Jessica Radioactive, Lilypad Lacquer In Pink we Trust, NYC Lexington Yellow, OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Orly Hottie and Holla. I used NYC Matte Me Crazy to give it a satiny matte finish. The details were all drawn on with Barry M Nail Art pen.

31DC Half Moon

I'm revisiting the very first design I ever posted on my blog with this post, my half moon planets. I still love this idea and am very proud of my little planets.

Obviously my thumb is Earth but the rest are just random planets.

I'll admit that I am now doing space themed nails two days in a row but I really wanted to recreate these, so tomorrow I will be doing galaxy nails without the galaxy.

31DC Flowers

As soon as I saw this design by Mr. Candiipants I knew it was a floral design that I would actually want to wear on my nails. I'm not a flower person at all but this soft out of focus look I really like. I also managed this on both my hands so I'm very happy.

The polishes I used in this were NYC Lincoln Centre, High Line Green and Pinstripe White, Nails Inc Blenheim terrace,  Jessica Lime Cooler and Essie Rock the Boat

This was noticed and admired by several people which is always a really nice boost :)

I don't have much more to say about this apart from that it looks really classy and fresh on the nails and it's super easy so you should give it a go :).

Day 27: Inspired by Jewellery OMD Challenge

Only four more days to go of this challenge! Today's challenge is to be inspired by a piece of jewellery and I've had these earrings for a couple of months. My first thought when I saw them was that they'd be a good thing to copy in nail art.

I used NYC Full metal jacket for the base then dotted with Essie Naughty nautical, Jessica Goddess and Orly Hottie.

Day 25: Inspired by a Film OMD and Tri-Polish Challenges

The film I am being inspired by is The Lord of The Rings, in particular the idyllic images of Bilbo Baggins' home. I am still restricted by the tri-polish colours and I have used two of my polishes Essie Rock the Boat and NYC Greenwich Village as well as the white polish Jessica Goddess and some glitters pulled from Pocket Money Polishes I Want Candy to form clouds and a sun.

I enjoyed this although the designs which go along sets of nails look a little strange unless you have your nails in the exact right position.

I was quite pleased with myself when I thought of using the glitter from I Want Candy to form the sun, it's the perfect colour. I will be featuring I Want Candy in an upcoming post but it's a great neon glitter topper.

Stamped clouds

Last week I showed you clouds made with the polish brush, today I am showing you stamped clouds. I was playing around with glitter over black the other day and ended up wearing A England's Bridal Veil (more about this on Monday) under two coats of Jessica Platinum Wishes. This combination looks great and in fact looks very much like Butter London's The Black Knight only with red glitter instead of pink. I was reading The Canadian Nail Fanatic's blog and I realised that I haven't done any stamping in a really long time and hers was so awesome that I was inspired. Stamping is of course the holy grail of nail art- quick, easy and incredibly detailed but does take practice to get right.

Rainbow Dots

I decided to do something I haven't tried before with dots-a rainbow :). I saw this design here (although I never actually looked at the tutorial just the picture). Instead of starting at the bottom of the nail like Islaay does I advocate starting in the middle so that you make sure you have enough space to get all five colours on.

Pastel fish braid

So I saw the fish braid a long time ago and have been holding off on it. Having done it I'm still not sure I like it but I'll do it at least once more before I decide firmly. I don't think the green and the purple work together at all, the green looks really sickly.

Big Bang Theory Penny

I really wanted to do some more TV themed nails and after I got hold of some OPI I'm not really a waitress I knew which series I was going to do. Penny is an actress working as a waitress. I'm going to show you a swatch of I'm not really a waitress and then show you the skittley nail art I did on top of it.

Lime and Blue Fishtail

Pretty much straight after I had taken my pink fishtail off I decided to do another, simpler one in green and blue. I used my base coat of Jessica Lime Cooler from the swatch I did and added the fishtail in OPI Can't find my Czechbook. It looks divine:
